Data Compression of Cutting Plane

چکیده

We propose an efficient algorithm for compressing cutting plane of three dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) data set. Observing the cutting planes of large 3D CFD data set is an important method for examination of simulation result, and efficient compression algorithm of these cutting planes is important for good performance of visualization when the simulation is running in a remote server or the data set is stored in a remote server. Kinds of aspects for visualization purpose are considered in algorithm design, such as data degeneration from 3D to 2D for cutting plane data set, visual accuracy, decimation of triangle mesh. After re-arrangement of data flow according to the structure of floating point number, blocking sorting algorithm and entropy coding algorithm are selected to perform lossless compression. Block structure of original data which are stored in PL3D format is kept in compression data format for keeping the sequential characteristics of PL3D format.
